Community Service

I'm really happy that the main project this year is a community service project. I've personally participated in a lot of community service activites, some including working at multiple homeless shelters, food pantries, special olympics, the Uptown Cafe, making blankets for poor people, and more. Each experience has been extremly rewarding and a lot of fun! I love helping other people and knowing that I've made a difference in their lives, even if it's a small. I used to be in a club called the Kindness Cvlub back in middle school, and I got a lot of my experience from there. My favorite project was working at the special olympics back in 8th grade with my confirmation group. I was a little worried at first because I had never worked with kids with special needs before, and I didn't really know what to expect. But once I got there, I ended up having a really good time. It was so great when the children's faces would light up after making a basket, or receiving their medals at the end. I thought it was a really amazing experience, and I definatly recommend that anyone interested should try to participate in it. The best advice I can give someone who hasn't dont community service before, is to go into each situation with an open mind and give it a chance. You could have a really fantasic time like I have in the past.

  1. I agree with what you said about going into every experience with an open mind. If you are walking into something just wanting to get it over with, you are never going to enjoy what you are doing. I am defiantly going to try and do the special olympics, it seems like it is so much fun!
